self-study: Weblearn--presentation

According to the course plan,we are required to give a presentation next week. In order to prepare well, I learn how to give a presentation through the weblearn today.

After self-study, I would like to give some summaries on presentation.

personal factors:
  • If you are the sort of person who is unnerved by speaking in public, then you should remember this: the listeners are on your side.
  • maintain eye contact with the audience
  • Make sure everyone can hear you, and see any visual material you are using. If in doubt, ask. (The inevitable response to ``Can everyone hear me?'' is ``Pardon?''. This is not altogether a bad thing; people always laugh even though they've heard it before.)
  • If appropriate, ask questions of the audience.
  • If people in the audience look blank, ask if you need to explain something again. No-one ever says `yes', but people like to be asked.
  • The occasional joke can be quite useful, provided it is in context. You should probably not rehearse jokes into your talk, as they will sound contrived.
  • Smile

Structure and planning :

  • 10% - 20% introduction;
  • 60% - 80% main body of talk;
  • 10% - 20% conclusion or summary.

timing:

  • talk a bit faster;
  • miss some material out and skip to the end;
  • a combination of both the above.

Preparation:Practice makes perfect!

Computer and video displays :control the sidles by yourself

Visual clich:

  • human figures pointing to things on slides;
  • text dropping into place or sliding around;
  • slides fading into one another;
  • slide changes accompanied by a fanfare or other audio effect;
  • animated bullet points.

I hope these information can help you!
